I have it auto sync my pics every day to my NAS. "FolderSync" does it all and works well for me. Hope you're able to find a solution for yourself. I also use it as a back-up to my PC's, phone, and external hard drives, you know, just in case my HD decided to die or if I need to access particular (smaller) files from anywhere. It's so easy to throw a file into one of your Dropbox folders, long press the file on your phone, and share and/or be given a link so you may send it to someone else to download/use. I've use SugarSync on occasion, but it's as simple, I guess you could say?, as Dropbox is so I only use SS for larger files that I need sync'd.ĭropbox is one of my go-to apps. I'd love to see a way where if a file is deleted on my phone after a sync, that it can be deleted on the desktop if the the file is still older than the last sync.ĭo you need more than 2 GB's for the folders you're syncing? The answer is obviously yes, since you said you didn't want to pay for it, but you can have a free 2 GB account with Dropbox. I should look into a way I can do a two way sync.

I had to manually install the rsync/ssh binaries, as I'm running the stock ROM (rooted). It means I don't have to plug anything into my computer or do anything on my computer. Works beautifully, one single touch on the phone and all the files I want from the phone and from the computer get sent to their appropriate spot. I use rsync over ssh (rsync/ssh installed on the phone, sshd server on my computer, commands saved to a script in /sdcard and started with ConnectBot).

But it did coincide with the transfer just finishing. Except it doesn't fulfill the syncing requirements, and it crashed my gnex the first time I tried transferring a file (had to remove the battery and all). I don't want to pay for Dropbox just to be able to sync files, but perhaps a Samba share would work. Thanks for the Samba and Dropbox suggestions. I'm trying to sync folders with Samba Filesharing via Wifi with SyncToy in PC. Nothing ground breaking in this post here so I probably didn't help you out all that much. It's a pretty awesome app, but as for syncing folders I use DropBox. So the question is: is there any way to sync folders without copying files around by hand? Before my Nexus, when I used to be able to just see my device as a folder I would use rsync to copy only the files modified, which would take no time.

If I have to use Android File Transfer to retransfer all of them it's a disaster. I have a collection of 15k photos which I like to keep in sync between my Mac and my phone. The fact that you can't see your device's memory as a normal file system means that you can't sync directories, for instance.

On OSX, for instance, you need to download and use the Android File Transfer utility, which might look like a Finder window, but it lacks crucial features.

DROPSYNC APP FOR ANDROID PRO
It ships with an option to sync the whole Dropbox folder, and passcodes that protect the application's settings.Īll in all, this is not a bad application, especially if you just need to sync a single folder with Dropbox automatically, or if you don't mind paying for the Pro version to lift all feature restrictions.Nexus-Desktop folder sync MTP might be better technically than USB Mass Storage, it is terrible for users. The Pro version adds other features to the app besides syncing multiple folders and removing the upload limit. There is also an Ultimate package for €9.99 that guarantees you that you get all future features as well. You may buy the remove ads package for €1.99 to remove ads, or the Dropsync Pro package for €5.99 to remove ads and get all Pro version features. Several pro packages are offered for the app. I thought at first that I tapped on an ad without noticing it but that was not the case.

The app displays full screen ads sometimes. It may be enough if you just want to keep a single folder on Android in sync with Dropbox, or push files from the device to Dropbox. The free version of Autosync Dropbox - Dropsync is quite limited. You may change the sync interval there, set up when files get synced (network connections, battery), set up allowed WiFi networks to only sync files when connected to those, or exclude files or folders from being synced in first place using basic filters. You find plenty of options in the apps' settings. If you just want to push your photos to the Dropbox cloud for instance, you'd select upload, or upload and delete instead of two-way sync.
